Event tomorrow: Tuesday, Feb 27, 4:30pm ET — Could Philadelphia invest 2% of its pension fund in local economically targeted investments? Philadelphia Public Banking Coalition invites the public to discuss its proposal

On Tuesday, February 27, 2024, from 4:30 to 5:00 PM ET, Philadelphia Public Banking Coalition (PPBC) will present a program and interactive discussion about their recent proposal for the City Pension Fund to invest 2% of its portfolio ($168 million) in an asset class for local Economically Targeted Investments (ETIs). The general public is invited to participate on Zoom. Members of Philadelphia’s City Council are reviewing the proposal and considering a public hearing. A good turnout for this Zoom program will demonstrate that the issues have wide resonance as well as strong local support.

PPBC member Stan Shapiro, PPBC member and PBI Vice-Chair Peter Winslow, and host Vanessa Lowe will explore the reasons for the proposal, including the prospective benefits for current and future City retirees.
